Steps:
1.
Open a terminal and copy the required
.rpm
file to your system.
2.
If needed, uninstall any previous versions of the
AMD Catalyst™ Proprietary driver
and reboot
your system.
To check if there any
legacy drivers present on your system, use the following command:
$sudo lsmod |grep fglrx
The command should not return any information. The following figure shows a system with a
previously
installed driver.
3.
Install your
.rpm
file using package manager
:
$sudo rpm
Uvh fglrx*.rpm
4.
Reboot your system to load the driver modules.
$sudo reboot
5.
Make sure that the driver modules are loaded and working as expected using the following
commands:
$sudo lsmod | grep fglrx

Acer Chromebook C720 F24 LXDE backlight

Confirm backlight driver is intel_backlight here:

ls /sys/class/backlight/

If so, then maximum backlight setting is provided /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/max_brightness file. Often this setting is 15, but in the C720 it is 937.

Via command line, the backlight can be set like so:
tee /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness <<< 500

You’ll need to install imagemagick. Use dnc/yum extender.

Edit /home/[USER]/.config/openbox/lxde-rc.xml with the following:

# openbox –reconfigure
